PETA and Hedgehog Hosting Ink Agreement for DNS and Hosting Services

FAIRFAX, VA, MAY 24, 2005 - Hedgehog Hosting, which provides a full range of managed hosting services to non-profit and corporate clients, today announced an agreement with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the world's largest animal rights organization, for DNS and hosting services for the majority of PETA's web sites. Hedgehog to date has migrated [most of] the 160 sites, which include the extremely high-traffic peta.org, goveg.com, furisdead.com, kfccruelty.com and peta2.com sites. The company is running DNS for some 500+ of PETA's domain names.

"Hedgehog has changed everything for us," said Tracy Reiman, vice president for PETA's International Grassroots Campaigns. "We get more than three million visits to our Web sites every month and often experience massive bursts of traffic in response to international news stories about our undercover investigations and campaigns against cruelty, and our sites frequently crashed," Reiman said. "Since we transitioned to Hedgehog, we have never gone down, ensuring that people have constant access to PETA's breaking news, plans for animal emergencies, tips for tasty vegetarian eating, and more."

PETA previously hosted its own sites and provided content both directly and through a caching service, but high-bandwidth issues and frequent outages caused them to seek other hosting arrangements. They selected Hedgehog after an initial consulting agreement with the company.

"We liked their experience with larger non-profits, that they understood our needs, but most of all we loved their customer service," Reiman said. "They've made it clear that they are available to help us help animals 24 hours a day 7 days a week."

"With PETA, as with all our clients, we take a client-for-life approach," said Richard Feller, Hedgehog CEO. "We believe one of our key competitive advantages is our unequaled customer service. Hedgehog is focused on people-managed services that meet each client's unique strategic needs and achieve the greatest possible uptime."
